USING A MIXTURE OF ORGANIC FLOURS AND LOCALLY GROWN HERITAGE GRAINS that we mill in-house, our breads are created using a multi-day process and just three simple ingredients: flour, water, and salt. These three simple ingredients are combined with a small amount of flour and water that is already fermenting with natural, beneficial yeasts and bacteria (also known as a starter, mother, levain, culture), and transformed over time into a beautiful, bubbly dough that can be carefully shaped and later baked into crusty, fluffy bread. Using a wild starter results in deeper flavors, better texture and more nutrition in the final product. It can be challenging to work with these live cultures, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
At the Buttery, bread is a part of us. WE OBSESS OVER EVERY ASPECT OF IT, WORKING TIRELESSLY TO CREATE THE BEST POSSIBLE LOAVES FOR YOU TO TAKE HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS.
Doing it the all natural way means that each hand shaped loaf is truly one of a kind. In our view, food is art. Every additional ingredient like fruits or nuts is hand selected, prepared and worked into the dough with great care in order to produce something special...enjoy!
We accept pre-orders of bread with three days advance notice and prepayment. You may place an order in the cafe or over the telephone by calling 610-296-2534. Phone orders are not confirmed until availability has been determined, payment accepted, and you receive a call back from our team. Bread orders may be picked up daily after 10:30am. Our bread is made fresh daily, with no preservatives or fillers. We recommend eating it fresh that day, but it can be re-crisped or toasted for 4-5 days.

All of our pastries are made from scratch daily, using local fruits, organic flours, and local organic and pastured dairy. We put a lot of love and attention in making sure that each of our pastries has the right amount of flakiness, chewiness, and crispiness it deserves. Yum!
We accept pre-orders of pastries with three days advance notice and prepayment. Pastries are sold in 1/2 or full dozen, and cakes are sold whole. All pastries are subject to change according to what our team is creating and these are just a few examples of what we create.
